A favorite word

Norwegian has been described to me as a "poor" language, in the sense that it doesn't have a lot of words. That means that one word has many, many meanings, which makes for some interesting jokes and wordplay.

This one has always cracked me up. I don't know why, but I share it now. Slange means serpent.

  1. My sister lived in Botswana for a couple of years, and she went to the local hardware shop and wanted to buy a garden snake, meaning garden hose.
