Anna's dance show

Anna's dance troupe had their show today at the Olavshallen theater. At first we were miffed that tickets cost 200 kroner. And then we saw the show. It was a full-on extravaganza with brilliant staging and special effects. First was Alice in Wonderland, and then the Lion King, in which Anna danced in the Hakuna Matata number. There were hundreds of kids in the show in a totally packed theater. Incredible!

Peter's party

We shared an early birthday party for Peter with another boy in his class. They had the party at a place called Arena, which specializes in birthday parties. You can choose from 23 different events, like Sumo wrestling, blacklight basketball, paintball, etc. The kids played laser tag and competed on mechanical bull riding, then had pizza. A good party, a great concept.

I signed my contract for a "fast jobb" as it's called here, what would be called a "tenured position" in the United States. I gave up a tenured position to move to Norway for a year-to-year contract. It's nice to get tenure again... gives a good sense of job security. Thank you, Norway!

Mosquitos at Rampa

Off to Hommelvik again to see our friend's band play at Rampa! This time we were invited for a sleepover with some other friends who live close by, so a large group of us headed to Hommelvik with our kids, got them all set up and tucked in to bed, then went our for an evening of drinking and dancing. Good fun!

In the morning we made waffles and had a mixed Swedish and American breakfast. A fun weekend for all!

Maggie's first bank card

Hardly anyone uses cash anymore in Norway. We got Maggie her own bank card, with automatic money transfer to put her allowance in every week. Smart and easy.
